Quick post during my class break...
I am going to embark on a very very interesting journey for one of my papers. I'm going to take a hard look at nonviolent movements in Islam. How awesome is that going to be?
Look forward to a nice juicy post on restorative vs. retributive justice tonight!
The above photo is me with a young Circassian girl in Jarash, Jordan. That was a fun day.

hello odalisque.
good luck on your paper. i look forward to a post on the subject =)
while you are researching muslim nonviolent movement (i hesitate to label any such movement, violent or nonviolent, as 'islamic') i would suggest you take a look at the 'khudai khidmatgar' (servants of god) led by khan abdul ghaffar khan. a mass movement in the north west frontier province of british india in the mid twentieth century that aimed at gaining freedom for its people, ending oppression and drew its inspiration from islam in letter and spirit.
that is a good example, i am actually reading a man to match his mountains which is about him.
you have a perfect resource in abdul aziz said, he should be able to give you tons of information. also mohammed abu nimer knows a lot about islam, peace, and nonviolence.
i work for an organization, nonviolence international, and we have tons of stuff.
thanks very much to you both, I am finding a whole wealth of information, it is going to be an intense research experience!
o, i cant believe i forgot this. prophet mohammed during his early years in mecca.
